What We Believe

what-we-believeThe Episcopal Church believes the Holy Scriptures, commonly called the Bible, to be the Word of God and to contain all things necessary for salvation. We use the Book of Common Prayer to guide our worship and administration of the sacraments. We believe that the Sacraments, Baptism and Holy Communion are outward and visible signs of an inward and spiritual grace.

Rooted in tradition, Episcopalians believe in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit as ex-pressed in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds.

These beliefs are held in common by Episcopalians, but the Church also values intellectual freedom and individual conscience in matters of faith. Worship services are liturgical, following a set pattern of prayers with readings and responses which encourage active participation and the celebration of Communion.

We Welcome You

Not only does St. John’s offer a thoughtful approach to religion, we also uphold a rich heritage, which has evolved, unbroken, from the ancient Apostolic Church’s traditions. We live out our commitment to Christ within the community and welcome you to join or visit us to find a spiritual home within our church.

St. John’s seeks to be a sanctuary for equipping people to deal with issues of life in an atmosphere of love, security and support. Through prayer, praise and learning together by studying Scripture, we are on a journey to grow spiritually with Jesus Christ. St. John’s encompasses a secure and respectful community where all are welcome and will support you on your personal journey of faith.
