Children in Church

Children of all ages are invited to worship. During the 9:00 AM service on Sundays, St. John’s also offers a children’s sermon & children’s chapel class. Following the Gospel reading, the children are invited to the altar area to participate in a special children’s sermon and then adjourn to the parish hall to participate in prayer time and a lesson about the Gospel reading. The children return to the church during the exchanging of the Peace.

All Baptized persons are encouraged to received Holy Communion. To receive you may take the bread in your open palm and then, either eat the bread and drink from the chalice, or you may dip the bread in the chalice. Receiving only the bread is also acceptable. Everyone is also welcome to come to the altar for a blessing. Simply cross your arms over your chest to receive a blessing.

The St. John’s nursery is open to infants through pre-school children during the Sunday worship services. Our goal is to provide nurture for our children and support for their families so that all may grow in the knowledge and love of God. The rooms are just steps from the church sanctuary. Please ask an usher or greeter to guide you to the proper location for your child.

Children’s Sunday School

In between the services at 10:10 AM is Christian Formation for adults, teens and children. Children Pre-K to 5th are on a rotation model. Junior High (6th-8th Grade) meet together. Senior High (9th-12th Grade) meet together.
